January Library News!

To ring in the new year in the library, we have subscribed to an online book collection called "TumbleBooks!"  Beginning January 1st, students can access the books through the library's website with Riverdale's username and password.

These books can be accessed and used at school as well as at home! Click Here to get to TumbleBooks! Enjoy!

This time of year reminds us to be super thankful of our WONDERFUL library volunteers! Without their help with shelving, bulletin boards, and other tasks we wouldn't be able to run as smoothly!  We really appreciate your help!

Classes and Statistics
In the month of November, we met with 86 classes and small groups of kids!  In addition, our media clerk circulated books with 21 classes and 31 small groups.  All of these numbers average out to meeting the needs of more then 7 classes per day!  We circulated 3,632 that month as well!  We've recently worked with 3rd grade on their country research and PowerPoint projects, 4th and 5th graders on book reviews in our Destiny catalog, and 2nd graders in writer's workshop, creating wordles, and e-mailing letters to Santa!  We've had a great time teaching and learning alongside our fabulous students!

Parent Accounts Available
If you are interested in checking out books from the Riverdale Library, we'd be happy to create an account for you!  You may check out up to 10 additional titles at a time for your family to use at home.  Please stop by and see us if you are interested!

BOB News
Our Battle of the Books after school club is in full swing!  We are reading through our 10 books and writing questions to use for practice later in the year.  We created a wordle to be displayed on our team tee-shirts, which are at the print shop as we speak!  Look for BOB members wearing their shirts on meeting days!

New titles!
We have received the first shipments of new books for the year!  We have about 400 new books and about 150 more on the way.  Many of these titles are new non-fiction books focusing on cultures, traditions, and religions around the world.  In addition, we have ordered some high interest fiction (Diary of a Wimpy Kid!), graphic novels, sports books, arts and craft books, and a handful of new "I Can Read" titles.  Come in and check out the new books on display!
