The Riverdale Library is "Open for Business!"

We just finished the first full week of school with great success!  We met with all 17 classes of Kindergarten through 5th grade students for a library orientation and check out session! (Please note: Kindergartners will check out their first books in the coming two weeks.)  We are happy to report that we circulated 1,081 items in this first week!  Whew, we gave our Destiny system a workout!

Students each have an individual pass that they are expected to have with them when they are in the library checking out books, using computers, playing games, or for other reasons. (Please note: Students do not need their pass if they are only returning books.)  We are encouraging students to try and fill in their entire passes throughout the school year.  That equals 40 visits for 2nd-5th graders and 60 visits for Kindergartners and 1st graders.  We believe this is a realistic goal if they us visit once or twice each week throughout the school year.  I sure enjoyed seeing the kids again, meeting new students, and reading aloud a library-related book to each class!

Thank you for your support of the Riverdale Library Program!
